Mente de Principiante - Não sabemos o que vai acontecer em cada dia, mas sabemos que não se repete. Devemos estar abertos e receptivos a todas coisas boas e positivas que acontecem à nossa volta, vendo-as com um olhar renovado e sentido-as como se fosse a primeira vez... Cada nascer do sol, cada abraço carinhoso, cada passo que damos são únicos e irrepetíveis;

Confiança - Podemos sentir confiança em nós próprios e em que tudo é como deve ser. Isso não significa que gostemos de tudo o que acontece, mas temos a certeza que nada é permanente... A vida segue o seu curso e está em constante mudança;

Who would love to relive the happiest days in one's life?
I'd say most of us have that wish!
We are recommending a new reading that springs from such a wish: Looking for yesterday, by Alison Jay.

This book tells us the story of a young boy who think's he has lived the happiest day in his life and he wants to go back in time to yesterday, so that he can relive all of those amazing moments. He investigates the speed of light and searches for wormholes, looking for a crack in time... But he still can't find a way back. So he asks his grandfather for help. The grandfather asks him a very important question: "Why do you want to go back to yesterday?" Starting from this question, the grandfather tells his grandson all about the beautiful and happy days he has live throughout his life. While showing photos of those happy days, the grandfather reveals that every new day brings new opportunities.

Children live mostly in the present, as we have mentioned in previous posts. But they also keep the happy days they have lived in their memory. These already known experiences give them a sense of safety for they know what to expect and how things have worked.
The grandfather presents 3 mindfulness attitudes to bring us to the here and now, telling that we don't have to hold on to the past to be happy:

Beginner's Mind - We don't know what is going to happen in each new day, but we know that it won't repeat itself. We should be open to every good and positive thing that takes place in our lives, looking at those things like if it was for the first time... The sun rising, a caring hug, every new step... They are all unique, because that sunrise, that hug and that step have already happened.

Trust - We can trust in ourselves and that everything is exactly as it is. This doesn't mean that we have to like everything that happens, but one thing is sure: nothing is permanent. Life takes it's course and it's always changing.

Patience - As we understand that everything happens in the right moment, like a flower blooming or a butterfly getting out of her cocoon, we develop our ability to be patient.

I can tell you that this book filled with wisdom and that help us living in the presente moment, has become one of our favorites. The illustrations are wonderful!
